Julie has worked in the publishing industry for over 20 years and is one of the few consultants with extensive experience in both the not-for-profit and commercial sectors. As Publisher at the British Psychological Society, she was responsible for a £2million portfolio of journals, focusing on editorial workflow, production, distribution, financial planning, and strategic development. Julie has also worked in the commercial sector where she was responsible for developing new society partnerships, journal acquisitions, contract management and the financial growth of a portfolio of over 100 journals.
Consulting since 2012, Julie’s focus is on managing journal publishing tenders and reviewing and renegotiating publishing contracts. She has a successful track record of realising tangible benefits for societies through the creation of new agreements. With an astonishing eye for detail, Julie is able to bring an informed, balanced and realistic view, and can spot where the problems lie at a thousand paces. While her approach is a measured one, Julie is a tenacious negotiator and it is true to say that little slips past her. She is thorough and methodical and is ideally situated to understand the pitfalls of journals’ partnership agreements.
